Saint Andrew Christmas Novena

Join us as we pray the Saint Andrew Novena November 30, the feast of St. Andrew, through Christmas Eve.

Let’s grow closer as a community this advent as we pray for the intention of welcoming future students and families to our growing school.

Tradition holds that whoever recites the St. Andrew Christmas novena prayer fifteen times each day from the feast of St. Andrew until Christmas Eve will obtain the favor requested.

How to Pray the Novena:

Time needed: 5 minutes

Make the Sign of the Cross.

—In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Say the St. Andrew Christmas Novena prayer.

Name any intentions or other prayers you wish to share with God. —This is a great time to consider your response to Jesus’s call to follow Him; just as he called on Andrew and Peter.

Conclude with the Sign of the Cross.

—In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Repeat the above steps 14 more times throughout your day and continue praying the novena daily through Christmas Eve!

Saint Andrew the Apostle - Feast Day November 30

Saint Andrew was Jesus’s first apostle and the older brother of Saint Peter, the second apostle. The Gospel of John states that Andrew was also a follower of John the Baptist, and in Matthew’s Gospel, we learn that Jesus calls the two brothers and fishermen to follow Him.

“Behold, the Lamb of God.” Andrew and another disciple followed Jesus. “Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’ They said to him, ‘Rabbi, where are you staying?’ He said to them, ‘Come, and you will see.’ So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day.” (John 1:38-39a)

“Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers. They were Simon (his other name was Peter) and Andrew, his brother. They were putting a net into the sea for they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Follow Me. I will make you fish for men!” At once they left their nets and followed Him.” (Matthew 4:18-20)
